    Backfire,
Do you mean re designing the lower unit and gears from the old Lightning LU, or are they now changing the ratio? If so, from what to what? If so, what performance enhancements should that provide? What negatives? Anyone care to comment? I know ZERO about the effect ratios have on performance.
Hope this isn't another excuse for shipment delays.

I was told by BPR that they are not changing the gear ratio, only the outside of the LU.

    Re: E-Tec 225HO (RUSTY63)

Since we don't know nothing about E-TECs, how about Mercury? Merc baby Verado in 135, 150,, and 175 engines are turbo charged 105ci, 501 pounds. They have different mounting system from 225-275 horsepower models. More normal mounting. DTS shift and throttle. Hydraulic or electric steering optional.

    Re: E-Tec 225HO (Backfire)

But, we know alot about the E-Tec's, some things we know for sure, they will get better gas mileage, consume less oil, In most cases they weigh less, and have a better Warranty than the Mercs..............The Only thing we dont know is......When The HO's Will SHIP....

    Re: E-Tec 225HO (RUSTY63)

I finally got to take my new boat out and run it with the 225 DI loaner. I let Brother in law get a tast of the new stuff. We ran for around 1 1/2 hours @ close to max RPM. I was impressed with the fuel usage. By my Nav-Man it only burnt 16 gallons of gas compared to my old boat that is the same hull, with a mariner 200 magnum burnt 28 GPH @ WOT. If my 225 Ho does better, I will be well satisfied.
