Water intake filter/screen on lower?

Hi All,
I have a 1992 140 V4, VE140TLENS, is there some sort of filter that you can put on the lower unit water intake to block weeds? It seems like when I get in a weedy situation it sucks some in a clogged the outlet and I get no satisfying pee stream It clogs right where it's about to exit the engine at the plastic fitting. It's easy to clear with some stainless wire but maybe I should be trying to keep it out of there in the first place?

I guess I'll have to be more cognizant of where I'm trolling and raise the motor up. What usually happens is I get some weeds on there while fishing and don't know it, then I go to change areas and I'm all weeded up.

I fish the Big G alot and it's known for it's grass. What I do when done fishing, I'll troll into clear water, crank up and hit reverse and just bump the throttle good, usually takes care of weeds for me.
