    150 stalling

    93 150 GLETR

Lately I have had a few problems with stalling at WOT. If I keep it just under WOT, it does ok. But sometimes when I go to WOT, it will act like it is losing fuel and die. It either just dies flat with no other signs, or it will cut in and out and then die. If I'm quick, I can pump the hotfoot and get it to come back. Or, if I slow down to under WOT it smooths out and runs fine.

It has also stalled a few times at idle lately, but seems sporadic.

After it stalls it does not want to restart at all. The bulb is soft, but not flat. I generally just pump it back up firm and turn it over until it will eventually fire. Often it takes many tries to get it to fire or it will just refuse to start and I have to troll back.

No alarms, doesn't seem to be getting hot, VRO is hooked up and working, compression is good, spark is good (at least when I get it back to the garage). Thoughts?

Could this be water in fuel? I need to get a seperator installed. Or do you think it is fuel pump or carbs? I rebuilt three carbs earlier this year (my dealer only had three kits) but when I opened them up they were absolutely spotless so I didn't bother with the other three.

What are your RPM's at WOT you could be hitting the rev limiter on the power pack.

    Re: 150 stalling (ChampioNman)

I'm only getting about 5500. I just switched to a Raker 24 from a Raker 26 which the original owner had on there. 26 was clearly way too big. I also need to raise the motor about 3/4" so I might gain some more.

In order to get to 5500 even, I have to run it for a good ways at WOT and it slowly rises. Otherwise, I'm barely over 5k. Is this normal? I don't want to sidetrack the discussion but am curious....my main problem right now is the stalling at WOT and not wanting to restart.

Unless my tach is wrong, I don't think it's a limiter.

After it stalled this weekend, I did take the cover off, flipped the red lever up and then back down to make sure it was correct (it was), pumped the bulb firm (it wasn't flat like it was getting a vacuum, just soft), pushed the key in for about 5 secs, and then it started better than it had been after stalling.

    Thanks for your help!

    Aaron.

I don't think I'm hitting the limiter per explanation above...any other thoughts on what this could be? I've got a couple of tourneys coming up and need to get this sorted. Thanks in advance!

    Re: (rude power)

Do I need to be concerned about the internal lines on a 1993, or were they resistant by that time?

The tank to motor line is still the original OMC line as well, should I go ahead and replace it? Planned on doing so anyway when adding a water seperator.
