Anybody know how to keep mice out of the boat???????![]()
have heard bounce dryer sheets scattered around works....keep some in mine and have not had a problem with mice....smells nice anyway
I have been using moth balls for 30 years works like a champ also keeps moths and other critters out....
I read that somewhere maybe here couldn't remember spearment or peperment Thanks brother I love BBC![]()
I used to keep my boat in a barn in Iowa and bought two boxes of mothballs and a 10 pack of tube socks. I put a handful in each sock and tied a knot. I then placed them in every compartment, opening wiring and motor. After the winter I got it out of storage and every sock had been chewed at the knot by mice and there was even a stockpile of corn in the rod locker. So obviously it did not work out for me. Plus i had the carpet shampooed and still two years after it smell like moth balls.
I have wanted to try the spearmint oil and dryer sheet thing.
I can't swear to it but I'm pretty sure the dryer sheets won't work. I was helping a friend do some repairs to his landlord's house and when we pulled the sheetrock off the laundry room wall there was a mouse nest lined with dryer sheets. The mice we killed were static free and pleasantly scented though.

A trap (the old fashion type) and peanut butter. There are lots of ways but this one works for me.![]()

+1on the peanut butter, it's like crack to mice.
Also keep some d-Con stashed away in various nook and crannies around the garage.... especially the crannies.
Don't worry Ma'am....
I'm only here for the Bass.
I was just thinking. And yes it hurt a bit, but If you have electrical where you store the boat, it might be worth getting one of those sonar waves mouse deterents. I am going to look into them a little bit and see how they work.
might also try this this year.

Mice are getting smarter. We have tried moth balls & dryer sheets and neither has worked. My dad told us to try "Fresh Cab Mouse and Rodent Repellant" He uses it in his tractor cabs and it works plus doesn't leave a bad odor. You can look at this product at http://www.earthkind.com. You can also buy it at Tractor Supply, Ace, or Menards. We just picked up some at Tractor Supply. I also had a mouse set up house in my vehicle last winter. It chewed up my airfilter and stuffed the air intake with dog and cat food! It could eat the peanut butter or cheese out of the traps without getting caught! Hope this helps.
a couple of cats,, i have a couple cats that hangs out in my boat , no mice but lots of cat hair.. but cat hair doesn't chew things up![]()
Dryer sheets didn't work for me either. They made a nest out of them.

Looks like the d-Con works. I found this in my hot water tank closet yesterday. I guess he died with a smile on his face.
Don't worry Ma'am....

I use irish spring soap in small plastic plates & mothballs.
