Tossing Boat Cover Rope Under Boat

Did not think this was a big deal until I saw my 60 year old father crawling under our boat to retreive a rope he had "thrown" under the boat to secure the cover to the boat. Some of you probably have better ways of tossing a boat cover rope under the boat but this is the best way I've found that doesn't include using other items.

All I do is take the end of the rope, wrap it around my hand three times (to create a "ball" of sorts), make sure the rest of the rope (probably 6-8 feet or so) is laying on the ground (or hanging) between the boat and the trailer (as opposed to outside the edge of the trailer) and I toss the wrapped end of the rope to the other side.

I can usually (95% of the time) get the rope all of the way over past the edge of the other side of the trailer so I don't have to crawl under the boat at all. Hope this helps someone who may be struggling with the same problem my dad was having.

I gave up on the rope under the boat part. I just bungie the cover to the trailer.

I use gal.milk jugs. Use S hooks. Fill the jugs about half or less with water. Just enough to hold cover down.. I have 4 jugs to each side. Easy to unhook and rehook.

The guy that made my cover used a heavy bungie type rope with big heavy plastic hooks on the end. I stretch rope around the trailer frame and hook it back to the rope works GREAT

Put a slice in a tennis ball and run the strap thru and tie a knot in the end to hold tight.

Be carfull traveling with the rope next to the fiber glass. The rope can pick up dirt and dust and rub the gel coat in that spot. I recomend straping the cover to the trailer to travel. A bungee cord will have to much give and let the material flop on the boat. I hope this helps.

My cover attaches to the trailer frame. No straps or ropes go under the boat.

I'm just guessing you can't travel with your setup. Mine is like Andy's, adjustable straps loop around the trailer frame.

You are RIGHT. No traveling with my boat cover. I do not travel far to a lake .Cover and milk jugs only used while boat is in the yard.
