    cork rod handle cleanup

If you cork rod handles are dirty and look bad just wet them at home and sprinkle some scouring power on them and scrub them lightly with a wet towel or hand and wash off good and let dry and then they will look like a brand new rod again. Works every time and they look good and you look good as it shows you take care of your rods.

Re: cork rod handle cleanup (racefan)

I do just what you say Racefan. I wet the handle and then sprinkle scouring powder on them and wait awhile. Then I use Brillo Pad and rub them lightly until I think they are clean. I then rinse them off real well. I look them over to see if I missed anything and then dry them off with a towel. It works well for me.

Shampoo, it works great, and is mild.
I think we're gonna need a bigger boat...

    wrap

Wrap them with tennis wrap and change the wrap every 2 years or so... never have to clean anything... you can use different wrap colors for bottom rods and the rest if you like... I like.

    Re: wrap (reelman)

When my husband would take our son (42) fishing, he always used my rods. So when I was ready to fish, I had to readjust everything! I took tennis wrap in pink and wrapped my favorite rods in pink.....worked!! He doesn't want to use the rods with the pink handles!!

Way to Go Toni...That was a sure fire to cure that problem. No, tell me what "tennis wrap" is and I'll be a happy camper..

    Re: wrap (Bill Barham)

Tennis wrap is available in the sporting goods section of Academy and other stores. It is used to wrap around the handle of tennis rackets for a better grip. It's some sort of cusioned waterproof stuff. They also use it for baseball bats and sometimes, golf clubs. Although golf clubs have their very own kind of wrap. Not real knowlegable answer, but you get the idea.
