Don't forget sunscreen!!!

Guys, this really ain't a tip, but don't forget the sunscreen!!!

I've had skin cancer, basil cell carcinoma.......very slow spreading kind of skin cancer and the most common. Had my face cut on three times in one day, the first two didn't get the whole cancer. It wasn't a good day. Spent about nine hours in the Drs. office. I'll never be outdoors without sunscreen again!!!

I would post pics of what it looked like the day after the surgery, but it's kinda nasty. I looked like I was hit in the face with a baseball bat.

Thanks for reminding me Pat and as summer starts arriving everywhere, maybe you should do it again. I just had three cut out of my face and want to be careful from now on.

I have a 4" patch on my right temple from having a 8 cm hole cut in it last week, 13 staples, squamous cell carcinoma, from sun damage. It's healing well, so far a very thin line 3" wide from corner of the eye to ear. They froze it off for years. Damge was actually done in my teens, but using sunscreen is still vital. This one has cost me a lot of March fishing even though off work Mar 8-22, taking oxycontin occasionally. Right eye is bruised really bad from the necessary face-lift pulling cheek skin over. Had a similar deal on left hand, 6 cm wide hole, and one on top of my head, both healed up well. It's nothing to take lightly. I put SPF 45 on an hour before getting in sun, then once an hour in it, and wear a broad brimmed hat. No more ball caps.

I am only 46 and showing signs and have been tested numerous times but, luckily nothing serious. I'm tryin' the Blue Lizard this year which is supposed to be good.
Anyone use it?

I got Blue Lizard prescribed since I proved it isn't over-the-counter within reasonable shopping distance! Insurance pays for it now, but have to order it, none for sale in this town. Good stuff, a little sticky. Jim

Kroger carried it but quit due to low sales at $12 a bottle. I get it through an insurance online drug store for about $3. It comes from Australia. I found some online sources, though.

Keep a bottle near the boat keys so I do not forget to put it on. Also will be keeping a bottle in the boat.....Too fair skinned to go out in the sun without any on.

KB, I saw some at BPS this past weekend. I got myself some, will never go out on the water without the sunscreen.

I haven't used the Blue Lizard sun screen yet. I've been using Bullfrog Quick Gel Sport Spray for the past several years and have found it to be one of the better lasting sunblocks I've ever used. I saw on their website that they've come out with a Surfer Gel formula that's supposedly more water resistant than their regular formula stuff that might be worth a try.

I talked to Bill Dance at the Cincy BPS last year and he swears by it! After looking at Bill's hands, I'd say he knows what he's talking about
