    Fuel/Water Separator ???

I was told by the local Boat Shop that with the ethonal in the gas now all Outboards should have a Fuel/Water Separator installed in the main gas line, as the factory fuel filters won't do the job. This was told to me when working on my Old Boat with a 25Hp Merc 2 stroke running it.

Well now I have the Javelin with a 96' 90hp Evinrude I was going to install a Fuel/Water Separator in it too. I just bought the same one I put in the 25hp which is the Moeller Marine Water Separating Fuel Filter Kit, Universal Kit# 33320-10. It is the Powder coated Metal Head with the screw on filter that filters down to 10 micron.

So my question is, will this filter work well on the Evinrude 90hp? The reason I am asking is that there is a note in the instructions marked as "IMPORTANT: NOT RECOMMENDED FOR USE WITH ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP ENGINES. COULD RESULT IN POOR RUNNING CONDITIONS AND/OR ENGINE DAMAGE. ASK YOUR ENGINE MANUFACTURER FOR ADVICE."

SO THAT HAS ME KIND OF WORRIED!!!

What do Yall use on Your Engines????

It should work fine, plus your motor does not have an electric fuel pump.

You can order a bonafide OMC shop manual from your dealer still. A seloc or clymers is very generic as they cover every thing from 2 hp-V8's in the manual. If you can't get it from the dealer, go to the one stop shopping link at the top of the forum and you will see a link to order a manual from Ken Cook company. They aren't cheap but they are sure worth it.
