    BOW NAV LIGHTS - BLUEWATER!!!!

Mike - I don't see anywhere on your site where I can order the red/green LED's to install as nav lights............can you point me in the right direction, or let me know how much......

I need to do something. The bulb in my crappy pole light is out - and this would be the perfect opportunity to install the LED's like I've been wanting.

    Thanks!

Just be aware that if you install your own custom nav lights, they are not USCG approved. I don't think that anyone can sell nav lights that are not USCG approved, simply due to the liability involved. I know that nightfishion.net ran into the same problem.

    Just FYI.

Exactly right and exactly the reason I do not have an item on the website listed as "Nav Lights". Guys are made aware of this before ordering anything from us and some still decide to buy the 15LED lights to use for this purpose.

I put them on my boat and they are great, I had a water patrolman look at mine and he said they were fine, they may not be USCG approved but you won't get a ticket in Missouri. I left it to where I could still use my pole light if I ever needed to.

Just be aware that a ticket is the least of your worries if you have a tragic accident.

    Mike,

I looked at the 15 LED page and it's all text. Do you have some photos of the individual 15 LED units you can post here? Also are they flexible or ridged? I'm considering a self installation and the location is slightly curved where I want to put them (and I'll leave it at that)

I do not see your point, are you saying that they will cause an accident? They are much more visable than the pole light and five times as bright.
Are you are saying that the lights will be blamed if an accident occours and I will be held liable? I cannot imagine that would be the case when I had them inspected by the proper authorities and they confirmed that the lights met or exceeded the requirements in my state.

If I may interject, I believe he's talking about the "aftermath" of an accident and what would happen to you through insurance and liability because your nav lights aren't USCG approved. A local cop is not sufficient authorization and just because it exceeds regulations, doesn't mean it technically "meets" them. Same as if you overpower your boat with a motor it's not rated for. Boat may handle it fine, but have an accident and they find your motor is overpowered for your boat (and they will) you'll wish you'd stayed with the rated hp. If for nothing else than they refuse to pay the claim, but you could certainly be opening yourself up for a lawsuit, whether it was responsible for the accident or not.

Re: BOW NAV LIGHTS - BLUEWATER!!!! (esoxfly)

that's an excellent point - about the "aftermath" of an accident........and YES - there could be some serious rammifications if you had an accident and didn't have an USCG approved bow nav light............good point.

I've got some thinking to do. I don't go out much at night - and only usually need my nav lights to get back to the ramp - at dusk. I don't think I've ever been out at night on any of my boats.............just thinking I would like to have these installed so for the far and few between trips I do need the lights, I can just flick a switch and be on my way.........

Thanks for the other way of looking at things, guys.

I have them installed and they are great!! Much brighter than the normal nav lights. Get a lot of comments.

Re: BOW NAV LIGHTS - BLUEWATER!!!! (guisertj)

Could you post a fairly close photo of one of them. I want to see how they look mounted on the boat (not how bright they are - but a daylight shot to see the shape/design etc... as I could not find a photo on the website)

    Thanks
