1987 Johnson GT150 Not pulling water...

    Hey guys,

12 hours ago I had an outboard (J150GTLCUR 1987) that just would not pee. 12 hours later I have the same problem. The outboard has been sitting for 5 years. I expected some turbulance but i'm starting to get frustrated. Here's what i've checked so far...

1.Installed a new water pump. Impeller fins are going the correct direction. Key is in place.
    2. No clogs in pee line or hole.
    3. Shot water straight into the intake pipe with lower unit off, water comes out of the pee hole no problem.
    4. I know the water intake pipe mated nicely with the water pump.
    5. Intake filters on water intake vents on the lower unit are clean.
    6. Ran with muffs. No stream
    7. Ran in a garbage can. No stream\
    8. took out tstats, boiled them, looked behind them into the block, obvious no water was getting into the block, tstats are in good working condition.

Do you guys have any other ideas? For each test I would let the outboard run about 20 seconds to give it a chance to pee, I didn't want to burn anything up.

    Blown head gasket?
    Bad tests?
    Anything would be helpful!

    Thanks in advance.
    -Justin

Is there possibly a different name for it?

    I can't find it on http://shop2.evinrude.com/Inde...eid=1

Or could you tell me where it is on my outboard?

    Thanks for your help.

Did you replace just the impellor, or the whole housing? I did just an impellor on a older evinrude, and when I started it, it still had no stream. I ended up ripping it all back apart, and replaced everything. put it back together, and worked great. Never did figure out why the housing was bad.
