Just finishing up my recarpeting job on my 2002 PT 175 Bass Tracker. After putting the gear shift lever back on the Mercury gear shift I have resistance when putting it in reverse. Could this be caused by the nut being to tight?

Had same problem you need to try it with the motor running
Thanks I did. Took it out this afternoon for the first time after puting
It all back together. Worked great
Gotta be careful. Trying to put it into reverse without the motor running can break the linkage.
