    HydraSports throttle control

I'm getting a HydraSports 168 vee off my cousin to restore. I've never even owned a boat, but I'm pretty good at working with my hands and I love a challenge. However I'll be asking a lot of question being a novice boater. First off, I know I'm gonna need a throttle control lever. Where can I get one ,and how do I know what will work on my specific boat?

    Thanks!

    Re: HydraSports throttle control (cfgbasshunter)

Depends on the brand of motor and remote. Some boat builders used OEM stuff that is the same as the motor brand i.e. Mercury, OMC(Johnson/Evinrude), Yamaha etc. Others used a generic Morse or Teleflex with the factory wiring harness installed. Either way it will be hard to just find a lever unless you find one used if it's an older boat. One thing to remember is that with boats you just don't run down to Advance Auto, NAPA, or somewhere like that and get parts. That's why everybody says BOAT stands for Bust Out Another Thousand. What year model and brand of boat and motor you gettin anyways?
