Let me start by saying.... I have been in bass boats all my life... and I knew better... and im still laughing, but with a sick feeling!

Well I found the original stock port side rod holder for my Triton. Got all happy and started installing it this morning. I noticed the screws were really tough.... so I decided to srill a very shallow hole to get them started. First two holes went in fine and great, next one was closer to the side of the rod locker. So I decided i would lay on my side so I wouldnt overdrill... well you guessed it, I slipped and drilled a hole right thru the bottom of my hull. Now its a very small hole, about the size of a #8 screw... but its a hole. It popped a piece of my black gel coat out on the bottom/side of the hull thats about the size of the very end of my pinky finger.

I decided to go ahead and do a simple fix before I forgot about it... so I dabbed some of that crazy black silicon adhesive in the hole and tried to smooth it out for a temporary fix. I will let it sit up for the rest of today. Some time next week I need to do a better fix it job.... and remember ITS BLACK... so WHAT DO YOU PROFESSIONALS RECOMEND?

My thought were to stick a doubled up toothpick up in there and either JB weld it in or Marine Tex it in. Then get a black sharpy and go to work. Or Maybe some black touch up paint?

Again... thoughts?
