Ive been googling away learning about plywood for my boat repairs. plan on buying marine grade plywood to fix transom, deck, stingers. According to what Ive read the marine ply uses only a specific type of wood in it and should have no knots and very small voids in the layers as well as waterproof glue. It does not however have any presevitives or anti-rot fungal type aditives. Ive also read that some boat manufacturers ad their own antifungal treatments to the wood (Treated in accordance with AWPA Standard C9 with < CCA, ACQ, ACZA or ACA> to 0.40 pcf retention. Kiln dry after treating (KDAT) to 18% or less) but cant find anything available to the public. Anybody heard of some sort of treatment that I could use to prevent rot? Also have learned it is very important to make sure wood is super dry before glassing (guess I'm storing it in the house, wife should love that). Right now my only plan to prevent rot is to not use any screws in anything except the jackplate screws and glass all sides of the wood..![]()
