    Painting of the Ole Cowling:updated

: upWell final took on the task of painting my motor cowling. She is a 95 black max xr6 mercury. The cowling was bad bad oxidized. Taped off the big stickers..gonna wait till I get some more chaching to get some new ones made for me.
first i wet sanded a bit then primer then a first coat of glossy black.
Here are some before and after pics...still gotta let the first coat dry . Like a dummy I got to ahead of my self and goofed so now i gotta sand a couple of spots to get out the paint drips i left..ugh!! Will post final pics when i get them finished.

Updated: Well I don't know what the heck happened maybe i didn't prep very well but the first coat didn't stick. It started to crack in alot of places so I had to sand and wet sand it all!! UGH! anybody have any ideas? I really don't want to have to take it to somebody to paint it but I might have to.

Looks good. Are you gonna leave the louvers black or go with a contrasting color? Are you going with the original style decals or something different.

hmm haven't thought of that?....I think i'm going to paint it all black..I like the idea of it all being one color.

Right now i'm going to stick with the orig decals. Def going to get iguana to do me some when i get the mula.

The reason I asked about the decals is that it seems when someone has decals made they always leave out the black Max guy. I really miss the bearded guy on the new motors, I wish that merc would bring him back.
