    Question on cutting carpet.

How do you keep the ends of the carpet from fraying? And were can you get trin for the carpet?

We changed the blades quite often. Is it better to let the carpet set overnight before you trim it?

Sharp blades, letting it sit will have no affect. You could use a sharp pair of scissors but I've found they will dull fast and will cause it to be costly.

Re: Question on cutting carpet. (rdfkentucky)

I installed carpet for years and the only time we needed to worry about fraying is if it was a continuous weave carpet like Berber, commercial (office) carpet, and some outdoor carpet. If you are installing a cut pile carpet it shouldn't be an issue. If you are using something with a continuous weave, they make a latex you can apply to the cut edge. They make small squeeze bottles with applicator tips for easy use. Here is a look at the stuff. You can probably find some at Home Depot or Lowes. You wouldn't need very much for a boat.

Ever other cut. I'll check my local Lowes for the latex.

Re: Question on cutting carpet. (rdfkentucky)

My Blazer boat doesnt have any carpet trim, all the edges are stiched. Blazer doesnt do that anymore, but it sure looks nice. I need to repalce my carpet. I can use trim in come places but other places trim won't fit. I thought about sealing the ends with the carpet end sealer, but not sure how it would look.

I cut all my pieces and take them to a carpet place and have the edges binded.

The legend boats have a sewn on biding also, but different from what I have.

Watch when buying the Latex Seam Sealer, I purchased mine from our local Lowes, and when it dried it was a yellowish color...it looked really bad against a white boat and charcoal carpet....
