    Painting a Trailer

Have a trailer that needs some sprcuing up, its in great shape but being a 1992 trailer it needs some painting. Was hoping to re-paint the trailer myself. Was thinking of using a roller to paint the trailer, s I can leave the boat right on the trailer. Any ideas, suggestions, types of paint to use or anything helpful would be awesome. Not the most experienced painter but figure if the paint holds for a few years and repeat the process I am fine with that.

    Re: Painting a Trailer (MetsFan9)

My dad painted his utility trailer with a brush and roller. I thought he was going to shoot it but he said he was just gonna brush it because he didn't feel like moving all his stuff out of the way and worrying about overspray and stuff. I thought it would look like chit but it actually turned out suprisingly good. He mixed Penetrol with the paint and it has very few brush marks.

Hi: Used Armor All satin black with 3in roller and brush - masked off any salvagable detail - check my post - Ranger Write off. Just make sure you use a wire brush / 80 - 120 grit to get a smoother surface. Cost: $15 and 4 hours.

I shot mine with a spray gun and used Rustoleum.

I used a wire grinder wheel to take the rust off prior to spraying
