    New Project - Longhorn Special- 1976 Ranger 175 A

Picked up this boat from an extended family member. Really nice shape although it is a 34 year old boat.
    1976 Ranger 175A
I am the third owner and it has been garage kept all it's life. I have owned it for over a year but I am just now in a position to begin working on it and as I am a cheap bass turd so it will be done on the cheap.
Sadly I cannot keep it in a garage but I do keep it covered.
Motor electronics are fried and the motor is for sale on the motor parts page.
Keeping with my handle and the fact that I have been wanting an electric only boat for some time I am transforming this into the LONGHORN SPECIAL. It will be powered by two trolling motors, one on the front and one on the back. Three batteries and a three bank charger, possible solar panals.
I am not going quickly and this will be a work in progress.

While I respect your property, and motivation.. That boat looks to be in excellent shape and is an icon. It would be awesome if you would restore it back to stock. The electronics for that motor should not be that expensive. The motor appeared to be very clean as well.

I will tell you that if it was restored (what little it would take) it would be worth a good amount. It would sell for enough to buy anything ya want for small lakes. I know for a fact that there are people that fork out good money for very early bass boats. They are good pieces to collect, and talk about.

Just something to think about.. either way good luck with whatever you plan on doing..

I think this boat is gonna be a great conversation starter, one of the things I am looking forward too.

My thoughts exactly, the gel coat could look new and doesn't take that much money to restore a classic in that well of shape. How much you want for it

I, like Swatdog and Totalbeverage, respect your property and initiative, but seeing this grand old girl not completetly restored to original is killing me. Having said that, I still wish you the best of luck. Keep the pictures coming, I've got to see what it will look like when finished.

That would have been awesome to restore and hang a 115 ProXS on.
