    Carpet Removal

Guys I removed my carpet, do I need to get the decks cleaned down to the fiberglass gel coat. I scraped all the thick residue off, but can only see clean down to the old gel coat in a few areas. I have it scraped as far as I can. I tried some alchohol types, will acetone really get the nasty stuff to scrape right off. Also how important is it to have the decks and lids scraped right down to the gel coat, will I be okay if some residue is left if I am using Roberts 6700 as my glue.

I asked the same question and was told that you dont have to remove it all. Just make sure ALL of the rubber backing is gone. Some leftover glue is ok.

    Re: (Mini)

I just finished doing my boat, i took it off easily with some goo gone, did a test to make sure it was safe. I would suggest that anywhere there is going to be an edge or that is not flat that you get it as clean as possible to get the best stick.
