It looks pretty good, if it's smooth and you plan on using contact cement you should be good to go. If you use slow setting carpet glue like roberts, you might wanna get it cleaner, but even if you use that it's probably fine.

That's about how mine looked when I re-carpeted. I used 3M spray adhesive, that stuff is super sticky.

Thanks guys. I now have to wait for my new lids to be made. I m going aluminum.
Im redoing my carpet right now and im using roberts and that is about what mine looks like. Roberts on the floor and 3m77 on the lids. Hope it comes out good!![]()
Thanks, i still have some work to do on the lid edges (vertical surfaces) with a dremel, but other than that I think I am ready for some carpet....
Just did mine, and that is what mine looked like. If it feels smooth, you are ready.

When I get to that point in your pics I use PEEL AWAY 7 environmentally safe paint remover works great on old carpet glue.. brush on let sit for an hour, and use a plastic scraper to remove it, then wash off with water, and wipe the area down with a wet rag ... if you have some stubborn spots use a green dish scrubby.. makes quick work on lids with out all the scraping..
Get all the old carpet rubber off it dint do much on areas with old backing stuck to it.
Ive used this on tons of boats.. makes life much eaiser
