    Patching Transducer holes?

So how do you fill holes that have been left behind by old electronics? I am replacing two older units with two new ones. The bolt pattern will not be the same, and the skimmer wont be the same. What is the best way to fill in these holes and make them as un-noticable as possible?

I've used Marine Tex to patch screw holes (among other things), it worked great.

Is this the best way to replace old screw holes on a transom? I need to do the same thing and my boat actually matches the color of marine tex. Is it really that easy?

Marine Tex is very easy to work with, waterproof, and will last as long as you have the boat.
Key to that is making sure you prep any repairs, remove all loose chips, fibers, etc. Clean the area with acetone to remove any oils, wax, grease.
Follow the directions on the package, cures best in 65 - 70 degree air temps.

If you are filling old screw holes in a transom, make sure that their is no moisture in there, if there is, you need to dry it out completely first, you do not want to be sealing it in there.

Can you use a permenent colored majic marker over the marine tex if your boat color is not white?

Yes, just wash the cured repair with warm water to remove the waxy amine blush that will form.

I have also now found out you add food coloring to the mixture before you apply it, to come closer to your gel caots color...
