Weak Stator cause what problems?

I have noticed my tach works 80% of the time. It's not an issue with it being erractic but more its working or not. I have jiggled wires and it doesn't change anything. The motor seems to lug a little out of the hole and may or may not have everything on the top end. And of course there has been the issue of the lean sneeze. I haven't had the boat long. Good compression, Good spark, New plugs, Cleaned the carbs twice, Lync and Sync, Timing, New filters, New fuel lines from the tank to the carbs, New OMC bulb.....etc......Im lost on this one lol.....

you tried the screw on the back of the tach?

I have an 88 gt 200 doing the exact same thing. I have no idea why, tach won't work sometimes and slow out of the hole.

ihad same problem with a 89 gt 200 replaced cdi and rectifier and solved the problem
