    84 Champion Transom & Stringers

I bought a 84 champion 17' bass boat earlier this year. I just discovered that my transom is soft around the bottom 2 outboard mounting bolts. When I discovered this I checked the stringers also. They are damp but not discolored or rotten.
I guess my 1st question is can the stringers be saved?
If not does the cap have to be removed to repair them, or do I have to cut through the floor?

Champion caps are bonded to the hull. Removal will be difficult.

Have you, or do you know someone who has replaced the stringers in a champion this age?
The transom seems pretty straight forward, it does'nt scare me as bad as the stringers.

Hawk, I'm doing a 1980 Ranger. Here's a link, I'm guessing a Champ would be a similar amount of work. I don't think the stringers are any harder than the transom. It's a fair amount of work. Good luck
