    Gelcoat repair?

I bought an Evercoat repair kit for a small job on the hull of my Ranger. i read in an archvied article that after the gelcoat is applied you can place clear tape over it to keep the air out and let it dry. How long should it take to dry? If i use clear tape will this tear off the gelcoat when it is removed? After it is sanded do you apply a wax or rubbing compund?

    Thanks

    Re: Gelcoat repair? (CanadianMac)

If you bought the Evercoat gelcoat repair kit it comes with a piece of plastic to cover the gel.
If mixed right with the catalyst it should cure in a couple of hours. Usually on gelcoat repairs you cover it with wax paper or cellophane/mylar.

If I were to use tape I would not let the adhesive part contact the wet gel. Use the tape on the edges and tape another piece inside out so the non sticky part contacts the wet gel.
