need some help with my 389 javelin water logged

this is a 1995 389 javelin single console just bougt the boat this spring ran great early this year noe it is kinda slugish on top end it ran 73 on gps when first hit the water after about 2 months it runs at 58 gps drilled a couple of small holes in the bottom of boat under battery trays on each side and noticed foam was wet do you guys happen to know of any way to help me dry this out with out seperating the top cap i will be pulling the carpet and replacing it in the next month and will reseal the floor area in case there are any cracks causing water to get in there i also ckd the hull underneath and everything looks good so it must me a small crack in the floor by seats or console thanks for any help you might be able to provide me with

Here is an idea that might work.

Drill a small hole in the top of the foam chamber and a little bigger one at the lowest point of the foam chamber. Apply compressed air hose with @ 100 psi. See if that forces some of the water out of the foam. It can't hurt to try before major surgery of lifting the cap. You have water intrusion from some source so look at the hull for a crack. It is probably where your trailer bunk covers the hull. Before you drill a lower hole apply the air and see where the water is squirting out - there is your hole or crack.

I'd be checking the boat very well if the foam is wet it is sitting next to the stringers and transom. Closed cell foam does not abbsorb water normally but if it is saturated down there it will be holding a lot of water next to the internal timbers and you can bet they will be starting to rot if not already rotten. Drill a hole in the floor so you cancheck the foam and stringers prperly and go from there. There is no way to fully remove that water from foam without removing the foam. From what I do know... once the foam gets saturated with water, theres no good way to dry it out except to expose it and have fan blowing on it constantly... but theres no guarantee that the blowing air will reach the bottom of the hull... given that its closed-cell foam...

Based on my experience... I cut off the top of the stringers in my boat to get to the foam... I left it outside in the sun for over a week and when I got to it... it was still saturated with water... I must have removed anywhere from 300lbs to 800lbs of extra dead weight (water weighs 8lbs per gallon)...

You might as well try and get to it, and might have to remove the old foam if its that saturated... you can find replacement floatation foam which is two-parts (approx $72 for 2 gallons which is enough to fill a 55gal drum) online...

Hope you get the foam issue resolved and the extra weight from water removed, then she'll really fly...

Here's what a guy did down here. He rented a commercial dehumidifier, placed it in the boat, covered the boat with a plastic drop cloth, taped it all around the edges to seal the plastic,like a tent, covered ALL the drain plugs, livewell intakes etc., turned it on and got GALLONS of water out of it. Let it run until you don't get anymore water. That is what I would do.
