I have seen some these posts where they have used wood for the framework. I have heard some use aluminum. Has anyone tried that new composite material they are using on decks and patios. This is supposed to be mde from recycled plastic and is supposed to be guarenteed agaist rot, but it wrks like wood and is appearantly stonge enough to support human weight. If anyone has tried this let me know. I am considering using it for my deck extention.

Personally I wouldn't use the composite material, it's very flimsy and not made to be structural. plus, it does split fairly easy, especially on the edges, when you screw it together....JMHO of course

I think boats twist and flex too much for the composite stuff. It is nice for what it is used for....but it is not real good at handling sheer pressures and twisting etc. The screws pop out of it.
