Greetings,
I have a Johnson 150HP Faststrike V6
year:1994
model#: J150GLERA
serial: G 03551862
trim motor was acting a bit funny today.. when i'm trimming down i can hear a rubbing sound with the trim motor sound.. would happen sporadically, not all the time.. then it just suddenly died.. don't hear not motor/hydralic sound, all 3 trim button location (bow, throttle, motor) don't work,
- fuse = good
- connection = good
- battery = good
luckly i didn't trim my motor up when i turned off the engine, was able to get on plane and low and behold the trim button now works?@! so off we go, reach or next spot, as we slow down and stop i try to trim it up doesn't work, turn off engine and tried again doesn't work...
this progress throughout the day and i thought it was a temporary fix that can get me through the club pike tourney.. well our last spot was a bit shallow and i had to trim the motor up to about Tilt to avoid damage and muck.. well when leaving i realized i screwed myself by trim to tilt cause the button wont work and i can't turn on the engine without the lower end submersed in water ..
so again.. did the routine,
- fuse check
- connections,
was able to get a club member to tow me back to launch, pulled her up and had a look under the cowling.. the trime relays are definitely clicking and working, connections are good.. all we could do is manual release to tow home..
got home 2 hrs later on the highway, as we unhitch i jokingly said to my buddy.. watch its gonna work now .. hit the trim switch and its working like a champ.. so my buddy says he suspect a short somewhere or grounding problem
I inspected the motor more and found this metal wire broken in the pivoting section, can this be the problem or is it more than just a broken what looks to be ground wire?
thanks in advance
