Probably a dumb question, but for those who have restored hulls, how do you get to the parts of the boat that are covered by the wheel wells on the trailer? I'm going to dig into my Ranger this weekend but I'm wondering how to access these parts?

Welcome fellow Wisconsinitte!!
A couple of ways..remove the tires, guide posts and fenders from the trailer, or lift the boat up. Whatever way is dependent upon your resources.
I have been successful doing minor hull work by just using a floor jack and a piece of lumber to distribute the weight over the back of the boat. I simply just jack the boat up about 6"-8" to get the clearance. Jack at the back of the boat, right under the transom. It would be a good idea to block up the trailer tongue, vs. just having the single wheel support it. You will be transferring quite a bit of weight to the front of the trailer this way.

be sure that if you floor and rib are remove that the whole hull is supported. if not the repair may warp the hull.
