What do you use to fix scratches in clear gelcoat? I have tried the cleat Evercoat product. It takes for ever to dry and it is not clear when dry. Anyone know of a product that works better?

Depends on how deep the scratches are...if only minor and in the clear coat...you can do a real cheap fix with a bottle of clear finger nail polish, brush on, let it dry and rub it out with some rubbing compound...will seal the scratch and dry clear.
Clear epoxy Resin, similiar to that used for building fishing rods.

The best thing to do is call Mini Craft in Florida and order a quart of clear gelcote, hardner, and some pva. Mix a little clear in a dixie cut, add a few drops of hardner, and brush on the scratch. Once it sets up for 45 mins-1 hr, brush on some pva. It will need the pva to completely harden. Then you can gently sand it down and buff it.
Be very careful not to sand too much or you will go through the exisiting clear and ruin the metal flake, then you will have a real mess on your hands.
Thanks, I'll check into it.

automotive clearcoat is the only way to go,i paint cars, and fix boat scratches,i couldnt imagine using any of the other techniques mentioned.i just mix a little clear and hardner, use a toothpick or something pointed to touch up or fill the scratch or chip, let dry, then use a paint file or razor blade to level drop with surrounding gelcoat, sand just alittle w 2000 grit paper -wet,then polish.if any of you are in the nieghborhood, contact me -jm35475@bellsouth.net i go by service one paint repair - tuscaloosa, alabama
