Hey guys,
I want to extend the deck/add cabinets to my 1991 Foxcraft 16' boat. It now has a short front deck which needs to go back to the console, to make a nice larger casting platform for bass fishing.
My question is; should I strap the front part of the deck (2"x2"s) so that the deck is higher (ie. deeper cabinets, and can put in recessed foot pedal), or just extend the deck from where the existing deck ends?
Any ideas are appreiciated!

So you're essentially going to put another deck above the existing front deck ?
Along with the frame and deck of the deck extension ? How much weight does that add ?
From a convenience standpoint, it might help with some things, I would just try to look at it from a practicality standpoint.
Valid points. Putting a deck over the old one may be more trouble than what it's worth.

No doubt you could do it. You just have to look at it from both sides of the spectrum.
Start with the deck extension... Worst case scenario you put some blocks under that to prop it up later...
The only problem I see, and it's hard to see with such a small picture, is the side mount rod box. If that is a side opening box how do plan to deal with that?
I plan to cut the side locking rod storage cabinet door in "half". The storage stays the same, little harder to get rods in.
