I have a hard copy of a diagram for cutting the lid carpet. I believe I got it from one of Topcat's posts a couple of years ago. If no one can come up with the electronic version in a couple of days, I will be glad to fax you a copy. Just let me know.

Ritchie: That's the one I was thinking about...is there a degree angle? on those
cuts?
thanks

I don't remember anybody giving any specs on the angles. If I'm seeing it right in my mind, 45 degrees per side should come back to each other...BUT... this would be if our lids had perfectly square corners and the carpet didn't "bunch" up.
I plan to use this pattern myself one day, but I think I will bond the carpet to the top surface only - pull the carpet down on a short side - make my angle cut that wraps around one corner - then cut the mating piece for best fit - continue around the lid - then apply adhesive to the sides and attach.
The diagram I have is different and I think better. Unless I am wrong the link above puts the carpet seam on the corner of the lid, which you don't want. The diagram that I have shows two (2) v's taken out per lid corner, just in from and on both sides of the corner. That way the seam is not on the corner. It worked good on my boat. I can fax a copy of what I have.

I'm planning on recarpeting in the spring, but im stuck on "How do you line up the hinges to get them in the same spot?" The new carpet will not have the indent of the old carpet. or the holes for screws or rivets
86, I will try to fax this to you tomorrow. Do you want me to put a name on it?

Take a sharpie and make little line where all the screw holes are. Then after you carpet use a ice pick and poke around where the lines are to find the holes. After you have completed the job just use some alcohol on a rag to wipe away the sharpie lines..
For lining up the hinges, use a sharp pointed instrument and you can find the old holes through the new carpet.

Mike, no need to put a name on it the fax is right at my desk

Mike, I see what your'e talking about. Even though I was going to change to a steeper angle to let the corner wrap and put the seam over on the other side, the top of the carpet would have bunched. Sounds like your pattern is going to have a v-shaped piece that will cover the corner - then the sides come up to the fit against it. I like thatThanks!
Ritchie, I have the diagram with me today. I can fax it to you as well, if you would like?
86, fax has been sent.

I would dissagree wtih the angles that show on the picture. You want to cut straight out from each corner. After your cut you should have a square piece that is removed. At least this is how I did my boat and is what the instruction said the I receive from bassboatcarpets.com.
God bless,
Stephen
