Fixing a hole in fiberglass

Good morning... I did a search on a number of strings, but couldnt find any info.
Ive got a scratch (stupid broken off goose nest pole) that I will fix with some marinetex, no problem.
But ive also got a baseball sized hole (stupid stump). I got an estimate of 700 to fix it. Like most of you, I dont want to pay that :).
I had a tourney to fish the day after it happened, so I epoxied it myself... and it doesnt leak one bit... its hard, and looks good... Now I dont know anything about it, but do you think that would be ok to leave it like that? or should I have it professionally repaired?
Is there any product out there that I can do the correct repair on my own?

Its a 1995 dc190 nitro, so its a fiberglass boat of course.

ive done a little research and dont have a problem using cloth etc.. i can get a kit for that... My question is this now...
Do i need to apply the cloth to the INSIDE hull, or can I just apply it over the outside of the hull... will 1 cloth be enough to sufficiently patch it?
I dont much care about how it looks, as long as it works, so the outside appearance with the cloth wouldnt be a big deal.
any suggestions?

If you have access to the inside, repair it from both sides. I would do most of the repair work from inside the boat, as it will be less noticeable. But I would also put a couple layers of tape and glass resin on the outside as well. That should give it adequate strength.
