2001 Johnson 150 2 stroke..

I decided to do some PM on my motor and have a couple of questions.. I see that the gear oil comes in 32 oz bottles.. My manual calls for 33 ounces .. Should I buy another bottle or will the 32 oz. be sufficient ? I think the dealer sells a small tube.. If i need to go with the 33 oz is the additional ounce out of the squirt tube easy to add taking I wont be able to use the pump with it ?

Also I bought some fluid for the tilt to top off if needed. Problem is when I removed the screw cap alot of the fluid ran out.. Now how is one suppose to fill the tilt tank back up when the filler neck is straight out ? ive tried backing on an incline to find that didnt help a bit..

Also going back to dealer today.. Anything else that I can pick up to make this stuff any easier ? never done the foot oil myself but seems straight forward and I already have the pump for the bottle..

Welcome aboard!! i always buy two quarts, then only have to by one for a while. With the engine trimmed all the way up and on the safety lock, then pull the plug on the trim. If fluid comes out it's fine if not top it off.

What is the best oil to run in this motor ? It smokes a good bit.. Can XD50 be used ?

Sure can! Can even use XD-100 if you wish.

Thank you sir ! I dont guess there is really a need to switch if im already running Penzoil synthetic is there ? Just trying to find a way to cut down on some of the smoke ... Is Penzoil a good oil to run ?

Smoke=good, no smoke=$$$. You will get less smoke with XD-100.
