Does anyone here build deck extensions?

My woodworking skills are somewhat lacking. I was wondering if anyone here built deck extensions? Need to find out how much one would cost for my boat preferrably with carpet. I can provide any specs and pics you would need. I have excellent measuring skills, but it stops there. You can post here or email me at mickkyte@hotmail.com.

That would be really easy to do. All you will need to do is measure the area that you want to deck extension to be in. You can look at this link...IT IS NOT MINE...it is on an old ranger and it should help you out, i would think

Thanks for the info. I'm still concerned about my carpentry skills. I'm kinda fond of all ten of my fingers and want to keep them.

mick,...come on buddy...you can do it, trust me...If you are really affraid of doing it, go to a machine shop or welding shop and have them weld you one up, take them a plan and they can use some aircraft material to make it...kind of expensive but worth it. i am going to use plywood cuz its easier for me

If I ever get my camera out to the boat I will have to send them to you mick. I have an 18' 1999 Basstream, 1850 series. My rod locker is wider than yours but you can basically build one box to fit between the rod and the storage locker and make it half the distance between the existing deck and your dash, all the same height. Then make a second one the same way only half the height and bring it to the end of your dash. That will give yet another storage area and a step up to the main deck. Just make sure you provide some type of drainage for them even if you coat them with fiberglass to waterproof the wood, and carpet the lids. Good luck!

I would like to see the pictures of yours to get some more ideas on doing mine. I think it will be a good project for me this winter while I can't fish. How is your Basstream holding up? Mine seems to be pretty well built, my only complaint is the carpet is falling apart and seems petty cheesy.

What are your measurements? I built one for my 83 ranger 350v. I sealed with epoxy and then carpeted. Added alum lids and put carpet on them. Then added a radio to listen to while I fish. Easy to build one.
When you measure make sure to measure from the inside edge of fiberglass between rod and storage box.

Where is the best place to get good, flush fitting deck lids? The ones in Cabela's and BPS look like they sit above the deck. Like I said before, I'm clumsy and don't need an excuse to trip.

Mick, some guys actually have the molds made to fit the deck of your boat for the lids...high dollar but well worth it...
