here are the before and after pics of the repair/replacement. I went with black fenders since I had a quart of the specialty paint left over. For the final coat I used a clear gloss protecter to minimize any scratches or chips. Hope you enjoy:


Took me about a week or so to complete, worked in the evenings after work and when it was a little cooler. The fenders were removed and sandblasted to get rid of all the rust spots and old paint, then it was primed and then 3 coats of black paint applied and finally the clear coat. The wood backing was removed and discarded. purchased 3/4" inch replacemt from the standard 1/4" that came with it. This added a little extra width, but is a lot more sturdy, and I was able to use longer screws to attach the carpet than I would if I used the statndard 1/4".
