Re: Bassman24's Carpet Restore pics (Bassman24)

You did one heck of a job and it really looks great! I just bought a 1991 Champion as a project boat to restore and have done most of the other stuff but now I am at the end and definitely have to replace the carpet. Was there a trick to getting the old stuff off? I would appreciate any pointers you can give me to make life easier

the old carpet will just come right off. That old stuff is easy to get off. Use goo off or acetone and a scraper...that is the easy part

Re: Bassman24's Carpet Restore pics (Bassman24)

Thanks for the information, I was hoping that you were going to say that it was a bear to get off so I could put it off but now that you say it came off easy I guess I will get it started very soon. Should I be getting the carpet from Cabela's or Bass Pro Shops or do you have another suggestion?

I used carpet from Lowe's. They had 16 oz. marine grade carpet. Looks nice and was way way way cheaper than those places. some guys will tell you no way but i like it so far and it has plenty of cushion for me...good luck with it!

Re: Bassman24's Carpet Restore pics (Bassman24)

I like that idea and I have one real close by the house. I will go check it out right after work today. Thanks for the tip. I am sure even if it doesn't pass the test of time it will still give me enough time to put some extra bucks away to go to a different type in a year or so.
