200hp Ficht wont turn over

I have a 2000 200hp Ficht. Modle#RE200FLSSH Serial#G04864098

Put the boat in the water this morning and it cranked over a few times and it didn’t start right up, and then went to crank it again, nothing, wouldent even turn over. Checked everything from the battery to the breakers. Checked the juice to the starter, nothing, but I am getting juice to the starter solenoid. I tried to jump the solenoid and the motor turns over. Should I just replace the solenoid or check other things too?

you did check the fuse box, I had the bottom fuse blow to mine and it went to the trim but it wouldn't start.and they is a in-line fuse by itself too,fuel pump turning on and humming,will it turn over at all??

When I jump the solenoid the motor turns over, i think its the solenoid, i'm going to remove it and test it today

Several possibilities come to mind solenoid as you think and the start delay relay, bad neutral safety switch, key switch or bad connection.

i removed the solenoid, tested it and i made a distinctive clicking noise when i added power to the S side, i also noticed there was a crack on the side that would open up as i was removing it. I will replace it anyway. How do i check if the relay is bad?

From the key switch follow the red/yellow wire which goes to the neutral safety switch then to the start delay relay then the blue/yellow wire to the solenoid. With the key turned to the start position look for 12v at each of the points. Start at the solenoid and work backward.

the start delay relay isnt under the fuse panel right, its the one that looks just like a small black box, its right next to the the starter solenoid, right

i need to order a new solenoid anyway (one side had a crack), so i cant run these tests until its all put back together. Is there any good companies to order parts over the internet?

Yes that is it at the top left corner of the EMM.

they's two there on mine,one went bad on mine last year ,I think they are 70 amp but I found a 50 at a napa for about $10 and been useing it.

These are the two relays, how do i know which one is the delay relay? What are they?

thats the main fuse[i think ],to the pdp it shouldnt do anything if it was blown

when my relay went out it would crank but just slow,like the battery was down,i think they are both the same type,if its bad just match it up and try it,or thats what i did, its been working for about a year now ,,I bet that fuse was it all along...

That fuse is for the EMM, if it's blown, the EMM may be internally shorted.

Delay relay has the yellow wires on it. It is controlled by the ground inside the EMM, so if the EMM is not working, the motor won't crank over. The relay then activates the starter solenoid.

The other is the main power relay as it has the heavy red wires.

when i was looking at the relay part numbers on the internet, i keep finding relay #s for a trim relay, but cant find numbers for the delay relay, are they the same piece or are they totally different?

they are the same item in totally different applications


Be sure to use the factory relay and not an offbrand one.

So i can order the trim relay and use it in place of the delay relay?

My solenoid is coming in on Thursday so i cannot make any other tests until them

Also, is there any other reason that that fuse could have blown besides a short in my EMM.

no no the trim relays and the ones on top the delay relays are totally different,check there prongs they have two longer ones,and are much heavier duty,
