Fought the wind and the striper/white bass fishermen for 3 days at Buchanan, but had a lot of fun. It was our first time on the lake so it was somewhat of an exploratory journey. We just fished around 4 hours each day, usually in the morning until the wind got up and turned the lake to whitecaps. We concentrated around Silver Creek, working the steep bluffs on the south side of the cove pretty far back in the creek. On Saturday after we put in, we started up north in the Colorado and worked our way south catching one 2.5 pounder, in a cove in really off color water on a CR pumpkinseed/chartruse tail lizard. After a couple of hours worked our way down to Silver Creek. Caught a couple in there before we went in to meet our daughter who was driving in. Sunday morning we boated 9 before noon, mostly throwing TR plastics in watermelon or watermelon/red. Worked them from the bank out to 8 or 10 feet. Bite was light, I usually just saw the line move rather than feel the bite. Caught a combination of largemouths and spots. Monday was quite a bit cooler, with a north wind. Boated 3 blacks and 3 or 4 whites in the morning, a few more whites in the afternoon. We kept a spoon or chrome CB rigged at all times and anytime we saw shad moving on the surface we'd throw a spoon and catch some whites.
