My friend Bruce Blalock from Kings Mountain N.C. & myself left for a trip to Fl. at 12 AM Monday morning. After a stop at the factory that built my trailer for some general maintenance & doing a few things in Vero Beach.we made it to Lake Garcia for a afternoon of fishing. The wind was blowing about 20 mph,but I know the lake fairly well & found a place to fish out of the wind.Bruce caught a nice 3 lb bass on his 3rd cast & missed a big fish about 8 cast later. The fishing was slow most of the afternoon but we did catch 12 nice bass.Tuesday,we started earlier but had to wait almost 2 hours for a man who put his bass boat in with no plug & no bilge pumps. We ended up with 12 bass about the same size as Mondays fish, which so far was small to about 3.8 lbs. & again we had 20 mph winds & showers.Wednesday,it was mostly calm, with some light showers in the afternoon & things were better with both size & size.We boated 18 bass with several at 4.8 lbs & 4 around 3 lbs & the rest between 1.12 & 2.8 lbs.The weather was looking much worse for the next 2 days,so we headed back to Santee on Thrusday(good thing we did, they had 8 inches of rain in the area we were in )& made it back to Santee in time to fish for about an hour & 15 minutes. We caught 3 bass that went 2 to 4 lbs & then we fish most of today( Friday) & boated 18 bass up to 4.8 lbs.The biggest 4 bass we caught today weighed about 15 lbs.All of our fish (61 bass)were caught on chatter baits, crank baits & soft plastic.
