Looking to make an Erie run this weekend. The weather is cooperating so far and looks like that will continue. Launching out of Small Boat Harbor in Buffalo. Any smallmouth reports from that area??

Tricky time of year with the spawn approaching, caught 55 smallies a week ago Saturday at the North Gap, most of the active fish are the males in the 15-18 inch range. Smokes Creek in front of the windmills, Seneca Shoals and Meyers are all good places to fish this time of year. Most guys are fishing 10-25 ft of water. You will see alot of boats bunched together in 30-50ft, they are after the perch bite, it has been good with fish averaging 5-14 inches. If the Lake is not cooperating, go inside the breakwalls and look where the guides are fishing!![]()

I made it out there on the 6th, probably should have posted a report earlier...
Water temp around 59-59.5 (I think we were about 2 weeks late). Started fishing the reef along the bluffs down by Pinehurst. Caught a bunch in 8 fow with crankbaits and tubes, nothing huge, but a lot of fun. After we left there we found fish scattered all over. Caught some down by the ramp along the shore, then some by the windmills, then a few inside the breakwall (after we got sick of the wind). Big fish on the day was a 4.6, we boated about 30 fish in all and had a great time. Worst part of the day was the wind and the sunburn on my ears and face. With the wind blowing, I never felt myself cooking for 9 1/2 hours until I got in the truck! Next time I'll bring the sunscreen!
