Probably hit the Seneca River, it's only 5 minutes away and is great in early spring. Oneida would be a possibility but unfortunately you can't fish for bass until May 1st. Hope to make that first trip the end of March, beginning of April, which can't come soon enough.

oh man. Seneca river! id be out there every day if I still lived a 1/2 mile from it in Lpool.

have to agree it and cross lake are great in the spring. killed em there last May in the shallows. would hve been my first spot too if I could muster the patience to drive that far my first time out.

Nitro, I love that river, I have a hard time going other places in the spring. Where do you launch at Cross? I've launched in Jack's Reef behind a bar, but it's not the best place since they are working on the bridge. Our bass club went out of Cross lake club, but normally you can't launch there unless you are a member. I'd fish Cross a lot more if they had better places to launch, its a nice to place to fish and the pressure seems less than most places.

Iceman, I should be fishing Champ for the first time this summer. Our club is having a 2 day there. I can't wait.

    hey Brandon,

I hear ya buddy. I launch at Jack's reef too- not the best spot with a long slow ride thorguh the shallows. Hopefully the construction is almost done or at least it looked to be last fall.

I know there is another launch on Jordan road just up from the club between the bridge and the lake, but I haven't launched there. I talked to the woman there last spring and she said its 6 dollars on your honor, with parking in the grass right there. I just never took the time to find it since Jacks is free.

Unfortunately I cant find the address or phone # anymore but let me check with my buddy in Syr and see if he still does. I think it was a business of some sort but I'm fuzzy on the details but it wasn't the club. It took some pretty heavy duty internet searching to find it and I just tried again and was unsuccessful. but its not a long stretch of road so if you're out that way go check it out. maybe its obvious from the road.

I did see something about the jordan mini mart selling year long launch passes for the club at some point in the past. might be worth checking out, LMK if you do. might be interested.

Ok, I know where Quimby's is, it was across the bridge from the club we lauched at upstream of the lake. Definitely a tough lake to find info on. Thanks. Hopefully the construction is done at Jack's Reef, its a decent launch just have to be careful idling back to the lake, some big boulders where the brook comes in. I also drop the TM, and go past the mouth, don't want to risk a lower unit.

that shallow water issue is the one that has me considering quimbys more and more. I just surface the prop for that 1/4 mile but its a long slow ride.

ever tried going the other way from the launch? I did once and eventually made it but won't ever do it again

No, I never went the other way, coming in on the road I saw it was choked with water chestnuts and didn't want any part of that.
