Ok so I bought my boat from a guy that was clueless about boats and well most everything. He owned if for just over a year and only had it out 3 or 4 times. He told me the motor was rebuilt before he got it but was still in the breakin period.
I finally got to talk to the previous owner today. He told me he had dropped a piston and bought a rebuilt powerhead out of Florida. When he took it to the local shop they pulled the heads and it was all hacked up. He said that most of the cylinders were different bores from Std. to .060 over. It just didn't look like good work and wasn't as advertised. The local shop was a certified Evinrude dealer and called and put pressure on the rebuilder and they told them they would send a new rebuilt powerhead up. When they got it, it was as advertised Std bore in excellent shape. He had it put on and the lower unit went out on the first trip out lol. So he had a refurbed lower unit put on. He told me he put about 4 hours on it and had it put in storage bue to father developing cancer. He said it stayed in storage for 2 years and his father passed away. He decided to keep his fathers boat and sell his. The guy that I bought it off of told me that he had just completed the breakin period before winterizing.

So hear is my question how many hours is required to mix extra oil in with fuel? Is there an issue because it set 2 years before completeing breakin? Could he have actually completed breakin with it only being out 3 or 4 times over the year he owned it? Any good advice for me?
