Extended Warranty

Contacted Merc today about extending my factory warranty on my 05 115 Optimax. Told it would be $650 for 1 year or $925 for two. Ouch!! Only able to extend it for two more years as max is seven years.

OUCH!!! I'd have taken my chances and not got the warranty. That's a tough call for you to make. Are you going one or two year?

Regarding fishing, This weekend will be it until next spring. Regarding the extended warranty I'll have to discuss it with the Boss. She always has last word. Just purchased a new Harman Pellet Stove $4500 including install and a ton. But if I do go forward I will get the two. I posted the remark on Merc forum. As they said if no claims kiss the money good by, but If I blow a power head or lower gear unit it will be the best money I ever spent. The extended warranty covers labor and parts. Would start in March when current one expires and run until March 2012. I'm torn.

Kevin, glad to see somebody else admit their not the General I would only offer this as advice..... move to Florida to use the motor more often at that rate Our toys can get expensive can't they ? Good Luck

I just got back from Florida. Took my better half to Hutchinson Island (Jensen Beach, Stuart) 2 weeks ago. Spent a week in my brothers Beach front Condo. 95 sunny every day 80 each night. Came Home to this. Hard to justify shelling out a grand for a motor that I only use about 45 hours a season. As I told Rod that's two weeks at Lakeside!
