    3 yr etec tuneup $$$$$

Wondering what you etec owners pay for 3 yr tuneup. Just got mine back. Water pump, plugs, fuel filter, thermostats, broken tail light. Cost me $578. Is that about right????

That was about what my Yammie cost me yearly. It will be awhile before my ETEC needs it.

bc. dealer charge outrageous prices for plugs and hr/ rates. What were the plugs cost per each. I just bought my championplug/ iridiums for 6.90 a plug. Not to hard to do. either.fuel filter 10 bucks for mine.water pump alittle time consuming but prolly around 50 bucks for entire kit. thermostats... 20 a piece maybe...

Why is it necessary to change the thermostats. Why the plugs if they are running fine! My truck has had the same plugs for 8yrs.!

different temps on the plugs..... each plug with different temps such as a qc12 or qc10 will have a temp of 12 or temp of 10 there fore the temp of 12 most likely needs a temp for a thermostat to relate to the plug setting so the motor runs at that temp.

They don't HAVE to be replaced if the engine is running fine, but it beats replacing 'em in the middle of a fishing season, especially during a TX. JMHO

Plugs wer 6.50, Labor $95 an hour, water pump kit $70. Biggest cost was 3.25 hrs labor. Guess it was reasonable. Mechanic explained they get $150 per year to winterize and with the etec it costs nothing. So $500 every 3 years I guess is ok.

They are a mechanical part, they can fail......After 3 years it's not a bad idea, to keep from having to do it in the middle of a fishing season, or having one stick closed and overheating the engine.......JMHO
