The hotter the better. Unless you know of some hidden brush piles beat the riprap.
Try a minus 1 in the back of peppenhorst.

Thanks. And yeah, the rip rap is 'bout all we ever fish. Peppenhorst usually ain't no good, 'cause if it's the week end there's fifteen hundred other boats in there...

I'd really like to learn the north end, 'cause I think there's some nice fish over there, but them stumps scare the crap outta' me.

Got hung up over there one day and had to get out and push the boat off one. That sucks...

I stay out of the north end also. Just to much to try and manuever the boat around. This lake is our clubs lowest weight tournament every year. Last year 1 team had a limit and there were 3 boats with 3 fish and several zeros.
It is a great place to catch white bass though.

What do you guys mostly fish with up there? Most everybody I know throws a spinner at the rocks all day. Some crankin' occasionally.

I guess it's just the fact that it's so shallow, and so darn MUDDY all the time.

You have any idea which colors work the best?

I'm determined to figure this lake out. With all that water, I KNOW there's gotta' be some decent fish in there somewhere!

    A bomber firetiger crankbait.
your confidence plastic into the brushpiles.( I use watermelon red and a dark color with equal success)
The corp of engineers place alot of christmas trees in the lake everyyear. I think bolder access got some this year. There are some private piles of brush also.
Alot of people fish the rip rap area where the old river channel swings close to the bank. I am by no means an expert on this lake just letting you know my observations. Last years club T was won out of peppenhorst branch with the minus one. I have had decent success in the spring when the lake is up into the shore line brush. We have a club T on Sept. 10 this year we launch out of Allen branch.

Fished it today from 08:00 to 10:30 (had the wife and daughter along). Caught one 4 pounder in Allen on a black tandem spinner, and the wife caught a pound-and-a-half white on a black/ chrome crank.

With all the rain, the water is dirtier than usual, so I'm sure that didn't help. Dad and I have a BWSTA tourney there next Sun., and I'll post a report after that. Hopefully we do better in this one than the last one!

Well, we did better, but still not good.

I weighed one fish, a 2 pounder, that I caught first thing in Allen on a black buzzbait. Cuaght two more fish outta' there on the buzzer, but they were short.

Those were the only fish we boated all day. The weather was good, light winds, but it was SUPER hot. Water was as clear as I've ever seen it on this lake.

Couple guys had full 5 fish bags, but not a lot of weight. 3 more keepers and we'd have been closer to the money.
