West Point 11/5

My friend Mark and I went to 'The Point' Saturday to try and scope things out before BAIT opens there.....We launched from Horace King about 7:15am.....headed south and stopped at a shoal marker near green channel bouy #27....he caught 2 on a Sammy,1 good,and 1 the same size as the Sammy ,and I had a blow up on a Sammy,and caught a 13incher on a c-rig.......We left there to check out some areas down near the dam I had found on the map.....We stopped near a marina with a Lighthouse at the entrance....started catching fish on the riprap......We tried numerous other areas and pattens,but nearly ALL the fish,incuding ALL the keeper fish,were caught on riprap with jigheads and finesse worms.....Mark is a spinnerbait and crankbait kind of guy.....I had him using the jighead soon

All in all,I think we caught about 8-10 fish each,as we left about 4pm.....the best 5 would have weighed about 8-9lbs.

Thanks for the WP report. I am coming up for the Ga. State Champ. tourny next week and haven't been on West Point since last years Ga. State tourny. Maybe I will be able to find a few.

What kind of championship is going on????......I've got my first BAIT tourney there on the 19th

It is the Ga. State team championship out of Highland Marina. Last year that had 326 boats, I think, and this year they expect more. Makes for a small lake.

BTW Good luck in the Bait tourny. We will be their next Thur. & Fri. trying to find a fish or two. I haven't been to W.P. since last years championship so it should be interesting. Mike, are you fishing?

Ga. State Team Championship raised the 1st place purse to $30,000 CASH !!!!!!!

Look for even more boats !!!

And A whole Handfull of mighty fine fishing people ... that purse will definately bring'em outta the woodwerk !!!!!

Its a big lake .... plenty of room .... get'em early and dont look back !!

I am heading south. The river is gonna get awful crowded. Lots of room down around the dam. Might not be as many big fish caught on that end, but at least there will be room to fish
