Why does Wheeler suck so bad.

Is it just me or is it almost impossible for a newbie to catch any fish there. I know I'm green but I've tried everything from C-rig to DD crankbait with a little bank beating in between and still no luck. Is fishing wheeler really this hard. I'm not just talking about size I barely put 1 or 2 fish in the boat and I fish reguarly. Just needed to rant. Any help would be great. Thanks

When I fish Wheeler and it gets tough, the first place I head is to a main lake point. I'm looking for one with some rock, wood, etc. with deep water close by. I'm not gonna say you can load the boat but most of the time you can salvage a crappy day.

What part of the lake are you launching from? Right now, on the decatur end, stay out of the shallows! We have been averaging 14lbs+ and up to 18lbs but its all DEEP! Jig or Crig on river channel is th eONLY bite worth messing with. Take a 3/4oz jig, target 15-25ft.. Its a slow bite, but when you locate them there are a group of them. With NO GRASS, the shallows are dead and the hot water has them DEEP! :-) oR FROM WHAT i AM SEEING. 20LBS bags are still showing up with 17+ winning most Sun and Tue T's.

I ain't doing any good either. The places that think should have fish do not.
Found a massive motherload of shad the other day. Right off of 24ft but no fish anywhere around.

Here is another thought. If you like to fish shallow go to the Elk river and start fishing above hwy 72 bridge. Back of creeks, sloughs , and any log jams you see ( please be carefull if you have never been in this area , lots of stuff to hit!) The shad are just now getting started down there. Another pointer is try this when its sunny and hot, that puts them on the logs Shallow cranks, platics, red eye shads, topwaters.
