Not sure if this has been posted before or not, but this is ridiculous, i emailed the governors office the following:

Governor Riley, I write you today as I have recently read the changes to the upcoming hunting and fishing license requirements. My question is where is all the extra funding going? Hopefully back into the programs for which they are intended for. This seems like a cheap way for the state to make hundreds of thousands of dollars at the expense of the people of Alabama.

My current fishing license will expire in June of 2008, in order to continue to fish legally in Alabama, I will need to purchase a new fishing license on June 22nd, when my current one expires, then two and a half months later i will need to purchase the same license at the same price of the one i just bought two and a half months earlier. Why not offer extensions to those whose license expire before Aug 31 or offer Pro-rated price for the 2009 license year to those who have bought a license within in 6 months of Aug 31, 2008. This bill needs to be looked at, and adjustments need to be made accordingly.
I do not mind paying for licenses and fee's to use the sates lakes and rivers, as hopefully most of this money is going towards the conservation efforts, wild life officers, and boat ramps/ state parks. But I do have a problem with the double dipping that this state is going to cause thousands of licensed fisherman to dig in their pockets to buy two of the same licences in one calendar year.
Below is copied from the outdooralabama.com website regarding the change on licenses. I look forward to your response on this matter. My money is hard earned and having to pay twice for the same product is ridiculous!

Email the governor or state rep and let your vicoe on this be heard. I do not mind paying the fee's, but i have a serious problem with having to buy the same license two months apart for the same price.
