Im looking for a report on Lewis Smith Lake. Im told the world record spot came off this lake
Smith has had records spots, it still has some good spots an lgheads too. Went out w/brotherinlaw yesterday mainly to look around heard it was down about 18'. some I talked to said the bite was hard to find, we only fished a couple of spots an road around looking mostly.The bite was about 15 to 20' I still find it hard to fish that deep but learning.
Smith is an excellent Spotted Bass lake. It is a very deep lake. A normal cast to the bank from the boat and it is setting in 45 feet of water or more. A lot of long sloping points. Small peebles. If you can find stumps on the slopes those are the ones to target. If you get one... stay close. There are usually more close by. There seem to be more LMs on the east side than the west side. The east side has more agriculature nearby, where the West side has more rocks/bluffs. Fish bunch up in the winter months. A jiggin spoon can be your friend. Here is a nice 3.7 spot from this past weekend.![]()
