Anyone ever use one of those JB Custom Rods?

These are the ones where the casting rods have the guides spiraling around the blank. Suppose to give you greater casting distance and more sensitivity. Looking for some pros and cons with those that have used them.

Got one of the trick spin rods i throw spinner baits on. Its a decent rod not real sensitive but good for spinner baits IMO.
It's not the length of the worm, it's all about how you wiggle it

I have the ESP(spiral wrap) snake(texas rig) rod. The spiral guides do increase the casting distance, about 20% id say. Their is no line slap noise at all, my others rods that have straight guides do have some line slap noise. That's where the majority of the distance is gained, virtually no line slap with the spiral wrap. As for sensitivity, its scary sensitive. I can feel a light texas rig level off on the fall as im working it on a long cast.My hookup ratio has definitely increased. When i decide to get another rod for fishing plastics or jigs it'll be a JB. I have a cranking rod too, its a tournament classic(regular guides), its been a good cranking rod. Check out his website and give him a call if you want, great guy to deal with. He'll custom build you a rod if you want him to.

Never used their rods, but am familiar with spiral wrapped rods. It's the micro guides that give you the added sensitivity and casting distance....not the spiral wrap itself. The spiral wrap makes a huge difference during the fight....less torque generated on the blank. Will do some research on these rods...looks like they have a good following

I've got a 6'6" crank bait rod that is IMO the best crankin rod I've ever owned.Ive even used it for trick worms (no weight) in weeds and grass and caught 5/6 lb. fish with no problem. this rod is 7 yr.s old.

You might want to run your questions on the NC Bass Club board. There are a lot of guys over there that use JB Custom rods.
